Oral presentation
Format and duration
Each oral presentation is allocated 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for Q&A.
We kindly invite speakers to ensure in advance that their presentation does not exceed the allotted time, in order to help the session run smoothly.
Presentations should be prepared using standard presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint or PDF).
Presentation files
Presenters are asked to bring their presentation on a USB flash drive (pendrive) and upload it to the conference computer before the start of their session.
Further information regarding how and when presentations should be transferred to the conference computers will be provided in due course.
Poster
Design
To promote interest in your poster, two complementary strategies can be adopted:
- Concise and visual approach: prepare a poster that is short, visually attractive, and easy to read. Use as many images as possible (with a recommended resolution of at least 300 dpi) and keep text to a minimum. This format is particularly effective in attracting the attention of casual passers-by.
- More detailed approach: alternatively, you may choose to include more extensive text to address a smaller but more specialised and interested audience. In this case, ensure that the content remains clear, engaging, and well structured.
Handouts (for example an A4 version of the poster or a complementary text page providing further details) may be made available for interested viewers and can be distributed while you are present at your poster or placed in a holder in the poster area.
However, in order to reduce paper use and promote environmentally friendly practices, authors are encouraged to include a QR code on the poster linking to additional material (e.g., a downloadable PDF of the poster, a full paper, extended figures, datasets, or a project webpage). This allows interested viewers to access further information without the need for printed handouts.
Language
English is the main language of the conference and is recommended for posters in order to ensure effective communication with the international audience.
Content
Posters should include:
- Author name(s) and institutional affiliation(s)
- Contact details (e.g., email address) to facilitate communication after the conference
- Clear and simple headings to guide readers through the poster
- Posters describing archaeological or field sites should include:
- a map indicating the site's location
- the date or chronological framework of the site
Avoid small font sizes and overly complex tables or diagrams. Text should be legible from a distance of approximately one metre, as several people may be viewing the poster simultaneously.
Size and format
Posters must be prepared in A0 format (841 × 1189 mm / 33.1 × 46.8 inches) and arranged in portrait orientation (vertical).
Printing
Presenters are responsible for printing their posters and bringing them to the conference venue.
Mounting
Poster boards and basic mounting materials will be available at the conference venue. Further information will be provided in due course.
Installation and removal
Posters will be displayed throughout the entire conference.
Presenters will be asked to install their posters on the first day of the conference and remove them at the end of the final day. Specific times for installation and removal will be indicated in due course.
Poster sessions
Authors are encouraged to be present at their posters during coffee breaks and after sessions in order to answer questions and discuss their research with attendees.
The programme will also include a dedicated poster session, during which attendance by at least one author of each poster will be required.
